Since its founding in 1960, the A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery has been a center and catalyst for creativity and culture in our region. The Museum houses the nation’s largest public presentation of artwork by Florida’s preeminent painter, A.E. “Bean” Backus (1906-1990), and is home to the state’s only permanent multimedia exhibition on the Florida Highwaymen. Additionally, the Museum organizes and hosts changing exhibitions from artists of regional, national, and international acclaim.

The Avon Park Depot Museum is a collection of historical artifacts and exhibits relating to the City of Avon Park, Fla.and its founding by Oliver M. Crosby and housed in the 1926 Seaboard Airline Passenger Station. One of several exhibits of particular interest is the "accidental discovery" of Brown 'n Serve Dinner rolls by a local bakery owner and volunteer fireman Also, on the grounds is a 1948 California Zephyr Dining Car used for special events and luncheons.

The Blanchard House Museum is an open access, educational institution devoted to the procurement, preservation, study, and display of artifacts and materials related to the history, culture, and contributions of African Americans in the settlement and development of Charlotte County and Southwest Florida. The Blanchard House Museum, established in 2004, was the vision of Bernice Andrews Russell. Mrs. Russell was a humanitarian, social activist, and historian for the African American community. She felt it was important to document the history and contributions of African Americans in Charlotte County.
