Second Saturdays at the VBMA features free admission all day, plus a variety of cultural offerings, including the widely popular Museums Studios for families from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Complementary programming such as performances, lectures, films, and related expressions of arts and humanities will continue throughout the afternoon on select Saturdays. The next Second Saturday is June 14, 2025. On Second Saturdays, families are greeted in the Museum lobby by friendly Visitor Services representatives and collect maps and other materials to guide their themed Museum Studios exploration. Museum Docents take young guests and their caregivers on mini tours of the exhibition galleries before leading them to the art studios for a related activity. Food trucks will be on-site for guests looking to grab a bite before or after their visit. “By offering free admission and enhanced programming at no additional charge, we hope to remove financial barriers that might prevent people from visiting the VBMA,” shares Sara Klein, director of education. “‘Second Saturdays’ will have a little something for everyone.” The full schedule of Second Saturday programming can be found at https://www.vbmuseum.org/second-saturdays/.
