The Museum of Discovery and Science mission is connecting people to inspiring science. Founded in 1976 as the Discovery Center, today the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is at the forefront of science education, innovation and exploration. The Museum showcases more than 300 interactive exhibits, immersive films, experiential programs and an aviation-themed Makerspace. MODS currently offers virtual and offsite programs including boredom busting experiences for children, families and adults - whether at home or in virtual classrooms. Families can enjoy super science shows and demonstrations, awesome avatar tours and private experiences, mind-blowing Makerspace labs, cool camps, unforgettable birthday parties, engaging field trips and STEM curricula, professional development workshops for educators, distinguished speakers, and more. The Museum celebrates diversity and welcomes visitors from all walks of life. The Museum hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. MODS is located downtown at 401 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312. Preregistration is required. *IMAX subject to the appropriateness of film content. **Registration is open through Friday the week of the event at 3 p.m. Registration is not confirmed until full payment is received and spaces cannot be held. Egg-splorations Annual Egg Hunt

Egg-citement is in the air with this annual egg hunt! Join us for a day filled with curiosity and creativity as we delve into the fascinating world of animals that hatch from eggs. Then join the engineering challenge that’ll leave you egg-static, as you attempt the ultimate egg drop from a dizzying height, all while ensuring your precious cargo (an egg) stays intact. It’s an egg-splosive day of learning, adventure and tons of fun! Time: 8:30 a.m. – Check-in for ages 1-6. | 9 a.m. – Check-in for ages 7-10. 9 a.m. – Ages 1-3 9:15 a.m. – Ages 4-6 9:30 a.m. – Ages 7-9 9:45 a.m. – Ages 10 and up Price: Museum members: $10 per child Non-members: $30 per child (includes Museum admission) Accompanying adults pay regular Museum admission. Eye of the Storm 2024

Hurricane season is here! MODS is teaming up again with FIU International Hurricane Research Center and the Florida Division of Emergency Management for one of our most popular annual events. Future storm chasers, meteorologists and engineers will learn about hurricanes and disaster preparedness. -Exhibits, Shows and Demos: Attend the What’s Up with Weather? demonstration to explore the great water cycle and its significance in Earth’s weather patterns. Use LEGO® bricks to build a city that withstands powerful storm forces. Construct windy towers and test them against various wind speeds. -Animal Encounters: Meet our resident animals and learn how they protect themselves during intense storms. -Watch an IMAX on the GIANT Screen: Flight of the Butterflies, Great Bear Rainforest, Arctic: Our Frozen Planet and more! -Career Connections: Explore careers in healthcare, environmental science, education, aviation, technology, space exploration and more!
