The Museum of Discovery and Science mission is connecting people to inspiring science. Founded in 1976 as the Discovery Center, today the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is at the forefront of science education, innovation and exploration. The Museum showcases more than 300 interactive exhibits, immersive films, experiential programs and an aviation-themed Makerspace. MODS currently offers virtual and offsite programs including boredom busting experiences for children, families and adults - whether at home or in virtual classrooms. Families can enjoy super science shows and demonstrations, awesome avatar tours and private experiences, mind-blowing Makerspace labs, cool camps, unforgettable birthday parties, engaging field trips and STEM curricula, professional development workshops for educators, distinguished speakers, and more. The Museum celebrates diversity and welcomes visitors from all walks of life. The Museum hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. MODS is located downtown at 401 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33312. Museum of Discovery and Science FAMILY OVERNIGHT CAMP-INS Dinosaurs in Motion

Experience the enchantment of sleeping with the dinosaurs as you stroll through the Mesozoic Era in our brand-new Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit! Be one of the first to doze with the dinosaurs as you explore what made these creatures so unique. Protect your eggs from danger like a Maiasaura dinosaur, craft your favorite dinosaurs using household items, and become a dinosaur as you design your own mask all in one “dino-riffic” night of science and fun! All groups require one chaperone (18 years or older) for every 10 children participating. Important Information Museum of Discovery and Science requires a minimum of 50 paid participants (including chaperones) to conduct an overnight. The maximum capacity is 150 participants (including chaperones) Museum reserves the right to cancel or postpone overnights due to insufficient booking, scheduling conflicts or other unforeseen circumstances. To meet the minimum number, we reserve the right to combine groups from similar organizations, i.e. multiple Girl Scout troops can be combined for one overnight. The museum will not combine groups from different organizations. All campers must be at least five years old.

Join MODS and The Extra Catch for our beach cleanups at the Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park (6503 N Ocean Drive, Dania Beach, FL 33004 – park entrance fees will be waived for cleanup participants). The cleanup is appropriate for all ages but recommended for children 8 years old and older. All children 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers should bring: a reusable water bottle sunscreen bug spray closed-toe shoes appropriate clothing for beach and weather Water, Gatorade and cleaning supplies will be provided, but volunteers are welcome to bring their own equipment. Space is limited to ensure social distancing.

MODS will be opening an hour early for sensory-friendly Museum exploration and activities followed by an IMAX film at 12 p.m. To provide a more sensory-sensitive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum, the theater lights will be turned up and the sound will be lowered. All films will be presented in 2D. No trailers will be shown before the movie. Audience members are welcome to get up, sing, walk, dance and shout without worrying about someone complaining. Families also are able to bring snacks from home, as well as blankets and other small items to be comfortable. Guests also can participate in a variety of sensory based activities throughout the Museum. Children will engage in social interactions and improve the processing, modulation and regulation of sensory input to increase participation in a natural environment. Blue Star Museums: FREE Exhibit Admission for Active Military Members

May 21, 2022 - September 05, 2022

MODS salutes active military members and their families with FREE exhibit admission for the summer from May 21 (Armed Forces Day) through September 5 (Labor Day). This program is for those currently serving in the United States Military, including Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, as well as Active Duty and Reservists, National Guardsman (regardless of status), U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card at the Museum box office for tickets. IMAX films are not included and may be purchased at the box office. This program is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. Leadership support is provided by the MetLife Foundation through Blue Star Families.

Fourth Annual Family Pride Celebration
