The Florida CCC Museum celebrates the 40,000 young Floridians that participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The group, among other things, constructed over 800 state parks in the country. Highlands Hammock State Park was the first of the 8 parks created in Florida. The museum has numerous exhibits interpreting the era, while docents describe the life of CCC "boys," and present videos featuring interviews with CCC alumni and the history of the organization.
